The documents were loaned in 1993 by the Montreal and Ottawa Conference of the United Church of Canada.
The archives of the Quebec and Sherbrooke Presbytery local churches and pastoral charges are all arranged according to a common classification system established by Susan Stanley, former Montreal and Ottawa Conference Archivist.
The documents are in French and English.
The Acton Vale Circuit, which was of Methodist denomination, was organized around 1898. It included three preaching points: Acton Vale, St-Theodore-d'Acton, and Bethany. It seems to have had over the years a French and an English Section. The church was closed in the 1920s.
The Acton Vale Circuit was part of the Waterloo District of the Montreal Conference of the Methodist Church of Canada.

The fonds contains source material on the Church management and the congregation's affairs for the Acton Vale Circuit from 1889 to 1927. It also provides information on the Bethany Methodist Cemetery. It consists of minutes, a deed, a register of baptisms, marriages, and burials, and a photograph. The fonds is comprised of the following series: Church Boards (1898-1922), Buildings and Property (1889), Baptisms, Marriages, and Burials (1915-1927), and Photographs ([189-?]).
No more accruals are expected.
Researchers may also consult the register of baptisms, marriages, and burials in the Roxton French Methodist Mission fonds (UC069/008/001), which seems to be related somehow to the one in this fonds.
The register of baptisms, marriages, and burials may be restricted at the discretion of the Archivist.
