History
David Wayne Baldwin was born March 24th, 1951, in Montreal and moved to Lennoxville with his family shortly after. His parents were Willis Keith (Keith) and Evelyn Baldwin (Rowe). He has three siblings: his older brother Willis Keith (Bill) Baldwin, his younger sister Nancy Baldwin, and his younger brother Dale Baldwin. A graduate of the Ontario Agricultural College in Guelph, David worked in agriculture all his life. David married Carolyn Anne Rowell (daughter of Herbert and Nina Rowell of Bury, Quebec) on Saturday September 6th, 1980 in Senneville, Que. Together they had three children, first a daughter named Jori Elizabeth Marie Baldwin, second, a son named Oliver Wayne Baldwin, and third, a daughter named Emily (Elim) May Baldwin. They moved to Baldwin’s Mills full time in 1990 where he ran the Baldwin family maple and forestry business. David was instrumental in the founding of Parc H. F. Baldwin in Baldwin’s Mills. The park land includes the Barnston Pinnacle and was gifted by his father to the Town of Barnston (now Coaticook) to create a nature reserve with public access. It is named after David’s grandfather Harold F. Baldwin. David spent many years as the chairman of the park’s organization committee where he was involved in the preservation and inventorying of the biodiversity in the park.
