    Biographical history

    Donald J. MacMillan, the son of Donald D. MacMillan and Isabella Maggie May Cameron, was born in Inverness, Quebec in 1919. He studied at Inverness High School, at Macdonald College in Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue, and at McGill University, where he took a degree in Agriculture. He worked for Carnation Foods Ltd in Sherbrooke and, for forty years, for the Department of Agriculture of the Province of Quebec. He was also active in the Quebec Beef Cattle Association and served as a commissioner of the Compton County Protestant Central School Board and the Eastern Townships Regional School Board. Donald J. MacMillan died on 27 September 2000 in Sherbrooke and was buried in the Malvern Cemetery in Lennoxville.

    Scope and content

    The fonds contains source material on educational services to the Anglo-Protestant population of Eastern Townships in the 1960s and 1970s and is also of value as a source of information on cattle breeding and the Quebec Beef Cattle Association in the 1960s. It consists of documentary materials of various kinds, including procedures, policies, reports, briefs, legislation, and budgets. It is comprised of the following series: Personal Affairs (1889-1974), School Committees (1957-1972), School Information (1939-1992), Associations (1921-1982), Fairs and Sales (1935-1985), Agriculture ([196-?]), Photographs (1948-[1985?]) and Festivals (1977-1978).
