Former Gibbs Home Boys

The item consists of a photograph taken of a group of former Gibbs Home boys, and their families, who had gathered in Sherbrooke for the royal visit of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth in June 1939. The King and Queen made a special stop at the Gibbs Home to visit the British Home Children.

View of Lennoxville from Bishop's University campus

Item is a photograph, taken from the McGreer Building on Bishop's University campus, of Lennoxville from about 1900. Visible is the covered bridge over the Massawippi River on College Street, part of the front lawn and driveway for the University and includes a view of the first Saint-Antoine Catholic Church and the steeples of the Lennoxville Methodist Church and St. George's Anglican Church.

Hauling log with sledge

The item is a photograph of a team hauling a log on a sledge (sled) in winter, likely including members of the Baker family at the Edwin G. Baker farm on Haslett Road at Danville, taken in 1914 or 1915. Also visible is the load binder - the bent stick. The log would be chained to the sled, the load binder attached to the chain, bent over and hooked, thereby applying tension to the chain to hold the log in place.
