Presbytery of QuebecThe subseries consists of minutes, correspondence, reports, press clippings, etc. related to the work of the Cemetery Action Committee from 1968 to 1970 and the organization of an annual pilgrimage to the old cemeteries of the Lake Megantic area. It also provides financial statements on the cemetery associations of that area. The Quebec Presbyterial was organized in 1908 within the Women's Foreign Missionary Society, which was later renamed the Women's Missionary Society, Western Division, of the Presbyterian Church in Canada. From the 1930s to the 1960s, the Presbyterial was divided into two sections, the Sherbrooke area and the Scotstown area. Over the years, the Presbyterial had various departments: Welcome and Welfare, Home Helpers, Literature, Library, Glad Tidings, Exchange, Girls' Organizations, Children's Groups, Afternoon Groups, Evening Groups, Press, Young Women's Promotion, Life Membership, and Historian. As stated in the constitution and by-laws of the Women's Missionary Society, Western Division, of the Presbyterian Church in Canada of 1963, the Presbyterial shall endeavour in every way to further the Women's Missionary Society work which consists of uniting the women, girls, and children of the Church, in prayer, study, and service for the advancement of the Kingdom of God and should promote the organization of new branches. It is comprised of all auxiliaries, affiliated groups, associate groups, and children's groups within its bounds. The officers of the Presbyterial are the president, vice-presidents, secretary, treasurer, and such other officers as may be deemed necessary. These officers are elected at the annual meeting. The Executive has the power to transact all business of the Presbyterial between annual meetings and to appoint a Sub-Executive to transact any business which may arise between meetings of the Executive. The Presbyterial shall present a report of its work to the Presbytery annually and send delegates to the annual meetings of the Women's Missionary Society, Western Division, of the Presbyterian Church in Canada.
The series is comprised of seven photographs: five taken at the Presbytery meeting held at the Canadian Forces Base Camp in Valcartier in November 1980; one showing Rev. James Jack, Rev. B. McEachren, and Rev. Blake Walker on the occasion of the service of recognition of Rev. Rodger McEachern at St. Paul's Presbyterian Church in Scotstown in 1982; one of the Presbytery members at work in a meeting held in Sherbrooke in February 1983.
