It consists of their marriage certificate (1843) and a notebook containing recipes; notes regarding seamstress work; notes regarding purchases of household goods and accounts with sellers; and notes regarding labour performed. The notebook also contains loose documents, including a certificate of Martin's appointment as Notary Public in 1862; an estate inventory for an unknown individual (1860); a list of notes owing and their amounts and interest; a receipt from the Vermont Mutual Fire Insurance Company (1884); and a receipt from the American Board of Commissioners for Foreign Missions for a donation by Martin on behalf of the Anglican Church and the Sab[bath] School (1882)

The file contains primary source information on Martin C. Ferrin's education and enduring connection to Brownington Academy in Brownington, Vermont, from about 1827 to 1840. It consists of class notes; notes proclaiming Martin's academic excellence; a hair knot; notes, presumably from other Brownington Academy students, with kind messages addressed to Martin; English composition and grammar exercises; a publication entitled "Topics and References Design to Assist in the Study of Woodbridge's Universal Geography," (1834); a notebook for cursive penmanship exercises (1835); a statement of Martin C. Ferrin's account with A.L. Twilight (1835); a note dated December 5, 1835 deeming Martin qualified to instruct Elementary level reading, writing, and arithmetic; and an invitation to a Social Cotillon Party at Fessenden's Hotel in Wayland, Massachussetts on November 26, 1840.

It consists of three diaries where he noted sales and purchases of goods, weather, social calls, work performed, and other daily observations. Each of the diaries also has accompanying receipts and other notes. The 1892 diary includes two strips of an earlier document, possibly dated 1850, that seem to have been used as a page marker within the diary.

The subseries contains information on the family history of the May family from the 1660s to 1982. It consists of newspaper clippings, a copy of Elisha May's will, marriage certificates, family trees and correspondence. It also contains four photographs of tomb stones.

The letter dated December 23, 1934 contains a black and white photograph of Betty May Ladd (Jennie's granddaughter by her daughter, Ruby M. Cushing) and Errol Ray Cushing (Jennie's grandson by her son, Addison Willard Cushing). The letter dated January 17, 1938 contains a photograph of Betty May Ladd at 4 years old, taken August 9, 1936.

It consists of greeting cards and letters written by Anna, addressed to Lill Ferrin Baldwin and Harold Ferrin Baldwin. The letter dated February 1, 1934 contains an enclosed photograph of a large, colonial-style home seen from a snowy road bordered by a fence. The inscription on the verso of the photograph reads: "The home faces south and we look at Long Island Sound over to Fisher's Island."

The subseries contains primary source information on members of the Stevens family in Way's Mills and Coaticook from 1910 to 1915, and in Alabama in 1944. It consists of three postcards addressed to Ruth May, written by her aunts Ida Alberta Stevens and Alma Elvira Stevens. It also consists of an invitation to the wedding of Mead Ferrin Stevens in Montgomery, Alabama to Mary, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bert Fyeld Cherry (1944); the invitation was sent to Ruth May Baldwin and Harold Ferrin Baldwin.
