It consists largely of correspondence regarding Donald Naylor's career as a sailor and captain; copies of attestation papers and other records from his military service during World War I with the 24th Battalion of the Canadian Infantry Brigade; copies of and original correspondence by Donald during his time at war as well as later in life; an interview transcript; magazine and newspaper articles; and research notes.
The file contains primary source information on the military life of Edward Hugh "Ned" Bowen from 1914 to 1923. It consists primarily of letters written or sent to Edward Hugh Bowen when he was stationed in England with the Canadian Expeditionary Force during World War I, as well as a photograph, hand-written notes on his doctor, and a newspaper obituary notice. The letters were sent by Edward Hugh Bowen to his mother, and others were sent to him by one of his aunts living in East Croydon, England, and by a McTavish from Colborne, Ontario, Davie Mills and Beatrice Thomas. They include information on Ned's military experience, his sickness and family.
