Hatley Canada Day celebrations

The subseries contains information related various celebrations Hatley, primarily relating Canada Day, from 1983 to 1996. It consists of two sing-along pamphlets; one special edition newspaper "Hatley Gleaner" published in 1983; 35 wooden nickels; a letter regarding the wooden nickels and 4 button regarding a bed race.

The Wales Home

The file consists of nine booklets: the by-laws and seven annual reports of the Wales Home in Richmond. The file provides information on the running of the Wales Home, such as the rules and regulations for the meetings of the Corporation, the members of the Board of Governors, the duties of the officers, the residents and the staff. The fonds contains source material mainly related to Minnie Hallowell Bowen's literary writings, community and political implicatons, and personal life at the turn of the 20th century. Many of her poems relate to local events, to the World Wars, and to Canadian and British politics. The fonds also provides information on the activities of Minnie's family members, including but not limited to: her husband Cecil H. Bowen, her son Lloyd H. Bowen, her daughter Rose Meredyth Bowen, Henry Bowen, Edward Bowen, Eleazar Clark, George Frederick Bowen, John Hallowell, William Bowen, Frank A. Bowen, Frederick Chamberlin Bowen, and Edward Hugh Bowen. The documents show their involvement mainly in the development of railways, in the mining industry, in the Armed Forces and Militia, in politics, in scouting, in church activities, and in social clubs and associations. Some documents are about the Fenian Raids, the Knights of Columbus, and the history of Sherbrooke.

The fonds consists of mainly manuscripts, correspondence, photocopies of press clippings, articles, publications, photographs, diaries, prospectuses, and drawings. Barnston

The file contains primary source information relating to land in Barnston in 1849, 1862 and from 1874 to 1876. It consists of a photocopy of a letter written March 14, 1849 by [A. Sowen?] to Robinson Oughtred, Esq. regarding a property dispute concerning lot 6, range 11 in Barnston. It also consists of a complaint filed by William Locker Felton against Alexander Edson, Junior, for non-payment of a mortgage on the north quarter of lot 3, range 2 and the north half of lot 1, range 2 in Barnston, as well as a court summons for the same case. It also consists of a mortgage (1874) and mortgage and obligation (1876) by John Hunter, William Hunter, and Ann Lane Walker to Ernest Maloney for the north half of lot 10, range 2 and the north half of lot 11, range 2 in Barnston.

The file contains primary source information relating to land in the Township of Melbourne in 1936. It consists of a deed documenting a sale of rights by A.G. Stalker and Arthur Castonguay (Windsor Paper Mill) to Dallas Grant (Canada Paper Company) dated December 4, 1936, for several lots in ranges 5, 6, and 7 in the Township of Melbourne.

Lettergram to Mrs. Frank Herbert Price

Item is a lettergram addressed to Mrs. Frank Herbert Price of Magog from the Director of Records in Ottawa, dated October 8, 1918. The lettergram states that Pte. Frank Herbert Price was admitted to the 55 General Hospital in Boulogne on October 1, due to a shrapnel wound in his side.
