The file contains primary source information on the personal and professional life of Edward Bowen from 1808 to after 1915. It consists of correspondence; a bound notebook containing vital statistics on his wife and children, and poems and hymns; documents regarding the settlement of his estate; a family register; a photocopy of death announcement for E. Bowen; and data on the military career of his brother George Bowen. The correspondence is from Lord Goderich, Thomas Coutts, Lieutenant-Colonel Eden, Mrs. Lucy Hankshaw, Louvigny de Montigny and Mrs. Irwin to Mrs. Bowen, as well as one composed by Edward Bowen.

The file contains primary source information on the life of Cecil H. Bowen of Sherbrooke, QC from approximately 1891 to 1930. It consists of correspondence (letters and telegrams) with friends and family, including his mother-in-law Helen Maria Clark(e) Hallowell, his father George Frederick Bowen, his brother-in-law Meredyth Bowen Hallowell, his wife's aunt Carina (Carrie), his daughter Rose and his son Lloyd. The file also includes letters from citizens of Pilley's Island, Newfoundland (where he worked as General Manager of the mines in the 1890s) including Mrs. William Miles, and a letter from disgruntled mine employees regarding the issue of unsalaried teachers. Other letters in the file received by Cecil include one from F.A. Bowen's wife during Lloyd's visit, and letters on family history (including one from W.S. Barclay).

It consists of documents written by Cecil summarizing his life, a marriage contract for Cecil and Minnie, a last will and testament, obituaries, a confirmation card, a description of the Sherbrooke Chapter of the American Institute of Bank (of which Cecil was a member), and a Daughters of the Empire calendar for the month of August 1935 with the inscriptions "Alfred Cecil Hale Bowen died July 23rd Tuesday 1835 - Funeral July 26th" and "The Archbishop died Sat Aug 3rd - Funeral Aug 5th".

It consists of a reprint from the Congressional Record (Vol. 49, No. 59, 12 Feb. 1913) of the alleged bloody oath of the Knights of Columbus. The document was received, probably by Cecil H. Bowen, in January 1925.

The file contains primary source information on the travels and theatre involvement of Cecil H. Bowen of Sherbrooke, QC from 1879 to approximately 1906, and in 1986. It consists of a printed list of passengers on board the Augusta-Victoria steamship of the Hamburg-American Packet Company in November 1890 and two theatre programmes for Il Jacobi presented by the Mountfield Amateur Theatre Company in 1879 and for the comic opera The Mikado, by Gilbert and Sullivan, presented at the Clement Theatre in Sherbrooke, probably in 1906. In the Mikado, Cecil played the role of the Mikado of Japan and Minnie Hallowell Bowen the role of an elderly lady. In Il Jacobi, Cecil played the role of Jacobi and Minnie the role of Sophronia. The programmes include lists of the actors and ladies in the chorus, a synopsis, and advertisements for local businesses. It also contains a letter from Lloyd and photocopied photograph of the cast of Ermanie, which included Cecil and Minnie, from 1986, 3 photographs of Cecil in costume and a photograph the Augusta-Victoria ship that Cecil had traveled on.

The file contains primary source information on Cecil H. Bowen's involvement in mining from 1888 to 1910 in Newfoundland, Brazil and the Eastern Townships. It consists of correspondence, prospectuses, accounts, sample analyses, geological reports, and accounts related to the Standard Pyrites Company, which operated a limestone and slate mine in Newfoundland in the 1890s and 1900s. It also includes the rules and regulations of the Pilley's Island (Newfoundland) Board of Health, of which C.H. Bowen was Chairman, correspondence and a travel visa regarding the operation of the Barcellos Gold Mines Ltd. in Brazil from 1889 to 1892 and correspondence and a map related to Cecil's mining rights in the Eastern Townships, particularly in the area of South Ham.
The Pyrites Company was a mining venture Cecil H. Bowen pursued with his brother, Francis (aka Frank) Arthur Bowen.

The file contains primary source information on the involvement of Cecil H. Bowen of Sherbrooke, QC with railroads from approximately 1898 to 1902. It consists of photocopies of press clippings on railways and the Great Lakes Waterway; a copy of Bill 98, the Act Respecting the Cobourg, Northumberland and Pacific Railway Company, passed by the House of Commons in the 1890s; a prospectus and an application form related to the issuing of debentures by the Cobourg, Northumberland and Pacific Railway Company in 1898; a draft contract, dated 1898, between Cecil H. Bowen, Reuben W. Leonard and John D. Cameron for the building of the railway; and correspondence, notes, and estimates related to the railway and to the construction of a line between Newington in Sherbrooke and Tobins Mills. One letter is addressed to Frank Grundy, Manager of the Quebec Central Railway in Sherbrooke. The file also includes a map showing the route of the Cobourg, Northumberland and Pacific Railway Company and its connections.

It consists of three poems: one is a typewritten poem entitled "Why Not?"; one is a photocopy of a press clipping from Life, including a poem entitled "Hymn to Home" by Lloyd H. Bowen, but signed with a pen name, Baron Ireland; and the third one is a handwritten poem entitled "To Ned" (his deceased cousin Edward Hugh Bowen). The poem is signed "Lloyd H. Bowen New York City 1924".

Bowen written in January 1928 by Harold W. Bass, Manager for the Western Sales Book Company in Winnipeg; a certificate issued in 1928 to Lloyd H. Bowen, residing in Sherbrooke, by the Commercial Travellers' Association of Canada, which entitles Lloyd H. Bowen to special rights, privileges, and discounts when using railways, steamboats, and hotels; an editorial article from the November 1976 edition of the Journal of the Ontario Dental Association written by J.A. Hargreaves, mentioning the appointment of Lloyd H.
