Ferrin, Jonathan Ferrin, Jane Ferrin Harland Colgan, Marjorie Young and Alsey Young. The letter from Sarah Mead Ferrin includes a "love knot" made from a lock of her hair.

It consists of transcribed letters documenting Chester M. Ferrin's first-hand experiences of the Civil War from 1862 to 1864 in Lousiana as part of the 8th Infantry of the Vermont Regiment. It also consists of personal correspondence written by Chester and his daughter, Caroline. Three of the letters contain photograph enclosures; the first, dated November 5, 1919, contains a photograph of a young soldier named Carlisle [Graves or Groves], Chester's grandson; the second, dated November 13, 1921, contains a photograph of Chester M. Ferrin, M.D., Surgeon General G.A.R., 1918-1919; the third, postmarked October 19, 1928, contains a photograph of Chester Ferrin holding his great-granddaughter Bertha, who is the daughter of Carlisle [Graves or Groves].
