Le fonds témoigne des activités de Charles Stewart entre 1815 et 1829 (période durant laquelle il a œuvré en Angleterre et à Charleston), de son travail pour la SPG et de son travail en tant qu’évêque du Diocèse de Québec. Le fonds est surtout composé des transcriptions faites par le Révérend James Reid, pasteur de l’Église Trinity de Frelighsburg (1850) des quatre-vingt-onze lettres (dont quatre-vingt-dix ont été rédigées entre 1815 et 1829) par Stewart pour Reid. Les transcriptions contiennent des commentaires ajoutés par Reid.
