Scope and content

The series contains the personal collection of photographs owned by Alice Maude Smith, inserted in three photo albums. The topics include family photos in Abercorn, starting with her grand-mother Polly Barber; her studying years in Massachusetts and Illinois, her professional career as a nurse, a doctor, and a writer. Finally, she kept many photos of her sibling's families, particularly her brother Abram Howard's family from Tacoma, Washington, and her sister Anna, married to Louis Shultz of Rockford, Illinois.
