Robert B. Speer was born in Danville on 22 March 1882. He studied at Danville Academy, University of Bishop's College in Lennoxville, and McGill University where he received a degree in Medicine.

The fonds contains source material on various aspects of the history of the city of Sherbrooke in the 19th and 20th century, including population, colonization, institutions, industries, and politicians. It consists of manuscript notes by Robert B. Speer and two press clippings.
